The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is an independent non for profit organisation that established the 4Cs and the International Diamond Grading System ™ for diamonds to provide consumers with consistent, fair and strict identification quality measurement of a diamond.
The quality metrics provided in a GIA certificate include identifying the diamond’s shape, colour, cut, clarity, carat weight, and proportions. The certificate describes the true quality of the diamond, to ensure its value of the diamond and protect consumers’ interests and rights.

GIA Certificate
The GIA certificate is like the birth certificate for all diamonds. There are GIA appraisal centres worldwide. However, the certificate and even the GIA association do not disclose the appraisal location as the value of the diamond is in the 4’Cs and diamond quality is graded equally regardless of the laboratory location. The GIA certificate can be verified online to ensure anti-counterfeiting and that your diamond quality is consistent with its certificate.
